U12 Boys Competitive Summer League

Rockets Basketball is pleased to announce we are running a U12 Summer League this year for Elementary School Boys (Grades 4/5/6). 

The league will have tryouts, and we are looking to take the top 30-40 athletes and help them develop over the summer with an affordable summer basketball program with Elite training and skill development. 

This program is open to athletes from all fall/winter club programs and will not affect your membership with those clubs. 

 UPDATE: Tryouts will be early April after U12 Provincial Championships due to some gym scheduling conflicts with teams preparing for provincials that we do not want to interfere with as most of these boys trying out will be playing provincials with their club teams.

The program will be led by Rockets Club President Robin Veinotte along with other coaches and will consist of: 

• Two Practices per week (2hrs each)
• Focus on skill development including (not limited to)
  • Ball Handling 
  • Team and Individual Defense 
  • Shooting form
  • Screening
  • Motion Offense Principals 
• Athletes will be balanced into 4 teams (and moved around over the summer to ensure teams are balanced) and they will practice with each other each week (2 teams in one gym, two teams in another), ending the week with scrimmage time
• Weekends will be kept free for families to enjoy their summer with a few expectations for some mini-house league tournaments vs other teams. 
• The program tryouts will be at the end of March, and sessions will start after BNS club provincial championships and run through to the end of July (16 weeks)
• We will conduct mini-tournaments during the summer and players can expect to play 16-24 Games (depending on Exhibition opportunities from other organizations) 
• There will be a small group (top 9-10) that may get to play vs other travel teams who have smaller elite programs from time to time

Players will get lots of game experience and will stay local (with possibly one exception) to keep costs low for families. 
We feel this is the best development opportunity for kids (and parent's wallets) at this age level. If you are a parent coach now and want to be involved, this is the program for you as we are looking to take on lots of coaches to give good ratios to athletes. 

Kids will get a custom reversible jersey to keep, and practice gear. 
Gym locations will be in Dartmouth/Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia

Our club is a Basketball NS Member Club, We are fully insured and will be seeking our Basketball Canada Club Certification this Summer. 

There is a $25 Tryout Fee due at the time of Registration. 

The Summer Season Cost will be Approximately $350 plus Fundraising to help cover exhibition games and team swag. 

We offer 50/50 online fundraising that families can use toward their costs, as well as split payments broken up over 3 months to help keep basketball affordable. 
We are also registered with Kid Sport and JumpStart Programs for funding assistance.
